The Great Alone

By Kristen Hannah

4.50⭐ Another heartbreakingly, beautiful, devastating Kristin Hannah read! I went into this book pretty much blind, and I was not expecting to get the story that I got. Mind blown, beautifully written, amazing main characters, and supporting characters. The details to description simply amazing, a great ending to an overall tragic story, which I very much needed after so much trauma!!

The House Of Eve

By Sadeqa Johnson

4.25⭐ Sadeqa Johnson is a master of historical fiction! This story was absolutely heartbreaking, and I love how she beautifully fashions her characters after real people. Both girls faced such vastly different but equally intense struggles. I found myself yelling at Ruby every time she made a bad decision, I just wanted her to escape her situation and build a better life. Honestly the grace and forgiveness she showed her mother was more than I could handle, she deserved so much better. Her mother was horrible, and I don’t care under what circumstance led her to be that way. I was so relieved by her choices at the end, which felt like the absolute best outcome for her. That final twist of fate with the baby swap truly guided Ruby exactly where she was meant to be.

The Disappears

By Marlon James

5⭐ The Disappearers by Marlon James is a masterclass in storytelling. Set in Jamaica during the ’80s and ’90s, the story follows the devastating aftermath of a mob attack on a group of gay men, exploring how trauma, grief, and fear force people to disappear just to stay alive.

This is only my second Marlon James book, and I can’t believe I’ve only recently discovered his work. His writing is undeniably challenging, but in the best way possible. Sometimes, a book needs to make you uncomfortable to force a real understanding of brutal realities. While I knew it would be a heavy read, nothing prepared me for how this heartbreaking, intense story unfolded. It comes with a massive trigger warning and won’t be for everyone, but this masterclass in storytelling will stay with you forever.

This book will for sure have an impact on you forever! I’m patiently waiting for the book to release so I can listen to the audio, I know its going to be amazing!

The Dutch House

By Ann Patchett

4⭐ What an enjoyable story! I was originally skeptical about a storyline focused entirely on a house, but it became a living, breathing character in this brilliant family drama this house and the people connected to it, and the story itself were absolutely incredible. Halfway through, I switched to the audiobook, and Tom Hanks did the most amazing job, he truly brought the characters to life. The sibling relationship between Danny and Maeve was so beautiful, I could literally feel the love coming off the pages. Watching them evolve while struggling to let go of the Dutch House was so poignant. That final, full-circle moment with Danny’s daughter completely ruined me in the best way possible
