4⭐ Deep into my Carley Fortune rabbit hole and loving book #2! This was the perfect summer read, instantly transporting me to the peaceful shores of Barry’s Bay. I absolutely loved Charlie and Alice’s story. Alice won me over right away, and I couldn’t stop rooting for her! After reading Every Summer After, it was wonderful to dive deeper into Charlie’s character and see what was next for him. Getting a glimpse into Sam and Percy’s future was the absolute cherry on top. Truly an enjoyable, immersive read from start to finish!

This story had it all, it was funny, dramatic, hypocrisy, emotional, and I loved it all from the beginning to the end.
First Lady Freeman was that girl, funny smart, sexy, fashionable, I was obsessed. Although it took her a minute to get a backbone, when she finally did I was like yes!! Scharisse wanted a different life for herself than the one her mother had. Growing up without a father and witnessing her mother’s early death profoundly shaped her, leaving both positive and negative marks on her character. Looking for security and a fresh start, she married Charles, a god-fearing preacher. She truly believed he would provide the stable life she had always missed and give her child the opportunities she never had.
After being ostracized by her fellow “uppity” first ladies, Scharisse watched her husband’s true colors begin to show. She quickly realized she couldn’t trust him any more than the backstabbing women and people in the congregation. Amidst the isolation, an unexpected door opened, she was given a chance to rekindle a friendship with her long lost childhood best friend a bond she had broken years ago when she chose her new life over her past. As the hidden secrets begin to spill, Scharisse finally finds her community, her voice, and the people she can truly trust. This book is filled with laugh out loud moments, it is truly hilarious, this story is an absolute joy to read. There is never a dull moment in this great book!
